I wanted to start a new tradition and show some form of raw food, or raw food creation every Friday. I shall call it Foodie Friday. So here is my lunch from yesterday:
It is a miso soup. Now normally I dont like raw soup. I never have. Soup to me is thick and creamy potato chowder made with lots of butter and heavy cream. That is what I consider soup. I have tried making raw soup on several different occassions and have always been very dissapointed in the outcome. But the other day I was actually craving soup and I could not get it out of my mind. This is what I came up with. An earthy, savory and delicious soup that really hit the spot. Seeing this picture now it doesn't look like much, but it really was good!
To make the soup I started by spreading some miso along the bottom of the bowl. Then I added sliced portabella mushrooms, spinach cut in long strands, one avocado (one was ripe, yay!), some cut up broccoli, braggs, and dulse flakes. The soup came out really yummy. I don't want to eat it too often because it has a pretty high salt content. But it was really nice for a change of pace.
Yesterday I did not get chance to workout like I wanted. Little Angel was not at all cooperative.
A week or so ago we planted some thornless blackberry bushes that a friend gave to us. They are still very small and don't have hardly any leaves on them let alone berries but I am looking forward to when they produce fruit. We have lots of deer that come visit our yard. Because of the deer we planted the blackberry bushes right up on the outside of our fence in the back part of the house. We have never seen deer there in the past because it is so close to the house and where the dogs are kept. But yesterday the deer were over in that area eating grass and snooping around. Now I like deer as much as the next person and I am glad that they come to visit. I love looking at them, they are so graceful and pretty, I'd like to eat those blackberries myself andf not share them with the deer!! So we will need to get a fence to put up around them soon.
Thats all for now.
I love raw!
