A Busy Day and A Funny Story

Yesterday the older children had writing class. It ws our last class of the year. My Big Helper has her class first with three children from other families. Then my three boys have their class together. Big Helpers class lasts for 1 1/2 hours, often longer, and then the boys class is 1 hour. I usually stay in a seperate room with the younger children where they play or do schoolwork and we wait while they have their classes. Sometimes I will try to get some shopping done during their classes. Since it is Christmas time I figured I would try to get some shopping done during Big Helpers class since hers is longer. So, with Sweetness baby sleeping in her car seat I dragged the 7 youngest children to Wally World to pick up a few more items on my list. We are done shoppign for the children but I needed to get at least one more gift for hubby.

As soon as we got to Wally World Sweetness woke up. It is impossible to shop when she is awake because she hates her car seat and cries the whole time she is in it. And it is very difficult to hold her the entire time we are shopping while trying to push a shopping cart. I knew that she was really tired and I was hoping that she would fall back alseep once I got her carseat in the cart and started moving and fortunately she did. On with shopping! I put Sunshine and Snuggles in the big part of the cart and had the carseat in the front of the cart and the 4 older children were trailing along behind me. Sweetness slept for awhile then woke up just as we were finishing up and I stuck my finger inher mouth to keep her content until I could get up checked out. Ok, so you know how at Wally World they have displays stuck in the middle of the aisles? Yeah, keep that in mind. So there I was, pushing the cart with one hand and the other hand has a finger stuck in the babies mouth to keep her happy. We are rushing through the store to get to checkout before Sweetness erupts and all of the sudden I see in my periferal visin one of the center aisle displays jerk and hear a loud thump from behind me followed by Princess saying ouch! I said, what happened and she said I ran into that thing. With her face apparently!! She said, I don't think my brain is working anymore. :) She was very blase about it and sisn't make any sort of a fuss so we all kept hurrying along without even pausing inour rush to get to the checkout. One we arrived at the checkout Princess suddenly says, I'm bleeding. At this point I finally am able to get a good look at her and she has bllod in her hair, blood on her jacket sleeve where she was holding it over her head and a big gash on her forehead!! She never even cried and she was so matter of fact about it. So after we checked out (with her still holding her hand over her bleeding head and me with my finger still stuck in the babies mouth) we went to the customer service deskand got her some bandaids and antibiotic cream to put on her head. She is such a tough little thing!!

Also yesterday hubby had a job interview. He has been looking for a new job for the last year. This interview was for a position that he is qualified for in Augusta GA. According to hubby the interview went awful! Their was a miscommunication about the time of the interview and then he was rushed and trying to hurry his talking to get all the info in during the alloted time. And he was interviewed by the same woman who did not offer him an identical job at a different location. So I am not optimistic about that interview, BUT if God wants us to get that job then we will. :)

I am going to try to do the best I can eating wise until the end of the year. This time of year is very difficult to go and stay 100% raw vegan. Too much holiday eating and get togethers. So I am going to do the best I can and not beat myself up when I don't stay 100% true to  my eating plan. Once the new year comes it will be a different story. But for now I am just going to do what I can and not go crazy. Another thing that I need to remember for future reference is that the food at our churches fellowship meals is just not that good and certainly is not worth going off plan for.

I guess that is all for now. Sweetness is sleeping in her swing. It is the first time she has ever taken an extended nap in there. And today she is 1 month old!! It seem unreal that she is already one month old. It goes by so fast after they are born. Also today I tried to get a picture of all the children together to put in our Christmas cards and that was a mess. Not one of them all looking at me and smiling. I'll have to retry or just send out the one that the most children look normal in!

Thats all for now :)

Prepping Some Food

Tomorrow we are having dinner on the grounds at our church and then they are having a combined baby shower for 5 mothers in the church who have recently had, or will very soon have, a baby. I am one of those Moms. So I am trying to prepare some food in advance to take with me. I really want to stay on plan tomorrow but I am not sure if I will be able to. If it was just the dinner on the grounds or just the baby shower it would be easy, but we are talking about all day, church, then Sunday School (they do it backwards, lol) then the dinner on the grounds, then the baby shower; that is a long time! I don't know what time I will get home after all is said and done. But, Sweetness has been sleeping for awhile so I was able to get some stuff done. I have flax crackers going in the dehydrater, and I have a poblano pepper dehydrating as well to make stuffed peppers with. I will stuff the peppers with my yummy cashew sauce and dehydrated cherry tomatoes and mushrooms. Very good. I can eat the crackers with my cashew sauce, which is really more of a dip, as well. I can take those things with me tomorrow. And bring my water bottle. Like I said, I want to stay on plan. I just have a hard time when I am surrounded by food that I can not eat and when I am gone all day. Bad combo there.

Today so far I have had a Pina Colada smoothie, a banana/banana smoothie and some macadamia nuts. Sweetness has been sleeping for awhile and I probably should have eaten while she was sleeping but instead I opted to prep food for later. She is waking up now and I am feeling hungry now so I will go see what I can scrounge up. Maybe I will make another smoothie. I can drink it while I feed her. :)

A Good Day

Yesterday ended up being a very good day food wise. In the afternoon I had a banana and mixed berry smoothie. Then for supper I made some raw nori rolls with a delicious cashew sauce, some cauliflower "rice" and some arugula. It was good. For dessert I had some banana "ice cream" with chocolate sauce. Very yummy. I love that stuff. It is very satisfying and very delicious.

We don't have much food for making raw yumminess. The salad that I am eating consists of lettuce, arugula, an avocado and dressing that I made using leftover sauce from last nights supper. I wish I had more salad stuff to add like broccoli or tomatoes or peppers, or something! But I am making due with what I have and it tastes pretty ok. And now Sweetness is calling for me. I think that baby has an alarm that lets her know when I am eating so that she can stop me! :) Good news is that tomorrow is Saturday and hubby will go shopping for food. Ok, off to get the baby. Guess I will finish my salad later.

Yikes!!

I was so excited to look up some of my favorite blogs and get caught up on reading but it looks like many of the ones I liked to read have gone private and I can't read them anymore!! :( Please send me an invite.

It's December Again!

SO much has been going on here lately and I keep meaning to get on here and write about it but then I never find time to do so and another day goes by without me writing anything at all! Diet wise things have not been so good. But today is not only a new day but the beginning of a new month so now is as good a time as any to get back on track.

So for starters we have a new little baby girl!! She was born on November 7th, 9 days past her "due date". She is a beautiful baby and I am so blessed to have her. For the purposes of this blog I shall call her Sweetness.

This morning Golden Boy came running into my room all upset about something. When I finally got him to calm down (he talks really fast with a very high pitched voice when he is upset and it is very hard to understand him) I finally figured out that he was upset because Carnivores dog, Betty, had gotten snippy with his dog, Geneveive. Both boys have a dog sleep in bed with them and the two girls actually get along very well. But Betty is very territorial and protective of the bed where she sleeps and apparently Geneveive got too close to the bed so Betty got snippy. Golden Boy tends to overdramatize things and both dogs were fine. Anyways, I calmed him down and sent him on his way. A few minutes later Carnivore came down to my room and wanted to know if I told Golden Boy that we were going to sell Betty. I assured him that No, we were not going to sell his dog! Silly boys.

Darn!! I just wrote a bunch more and it got lost. Grr! Something about eating when the baby sleeps no matter what time it is because if I go too long without eating I grab anything I can which usually is not something good for me and being seriously addicted to organic baby arugula. Oh, and we are planning on going back to Maine at the end of June for a surpise 80th birthday party for my Grammie and a family reunion and I would really like to be happier with myself (meaning my apperance) before then. So I have 7 months to get in better shape and lose weight.

Big Helper has been such a huge help to me lately. She is aptly nicknamed on here. Right now she is making cauliflower "rice" so that we can make nori rolls later. I am holding a sweetly sleeping Precious who wakes up every time I pick her up and typing with one hand. I need to get her used to the Mobi, not only so that I can get some stuff done but also so I can exercise! It is so hard for me to put her down though. I love holding her, she is sooooooo sweet, and she will not be this little for long. I want to enjoy her as much as I can while I can. Wow! I have gotten really good (and fast!) at typing with just one hand. Impressive. But I guess that is all for now.

So far today I have had a clementine and banana smoothie. It was good! :)
