Big Day Tomorrow (And Lots Of Rambling)

Tomorrow is my one month weigh in. I am very excited for it. I am hoping to see a nice big number. I did a sneak peak so I have an idea of where I will be. I am looking forward to sharing it with anyone who takes the time to read this. :)

Tonight my workout was hard! I have good news and bad news on the workout front. First the good news. Which is good and bad, but not the original bad that I talked about. Anyways I spent the better part of the day looking for songs and downloading them to make an upbeat workout mix that will not stop all the time like hubbys phone! Hubby has a MP3 player so he told me that I could go ahead and buy some downloads. So I did. I found some really good songs and after a bit of sorting out figured out how to get them downloaded onto the computer. The bad thing is that the MP3 player is the type that has to stay plugged into the computer. It is not portable like we thought. So that didn't work. Then we tried putting the memory card from my cell phone into the computer and downloading the music onto that but it wouldn't read it. So I ended up dragging an end table next to the elliptical and putting the computer on that. I plugged in the headphones and jumped up onto the machine only to have my head dragged back down. The cord for the headphones wasn't long enough to reach! So I put a box of diapers on the end table and then put the computer on the box of diapers and that gave me plenty of length. Ingenuity, I tell ya! Where there's a will there's a way and I wanted the listen to the music that I spent all day downloading! Plus I didn't trust hubbys phone. It is just too unreliable and I didn't want any excuses not to do my five miles.

So the bad news about my workout is my toes! My toes hurt so bad while I work out. It feels like all my weight is going onto my toes. The four small toes alternate throbbing and falling asleep and then my foot starts to fall asleep too. But it is not the kind of sleep that is like a nice blissful sleep. This is VERY PAINFUL! I don't know what to do about it. I have tried different shoes and even just socks. Nothing seems to help. In spite of the incredible toe pain I was able to beat my previous record for both the 3o minute mark and the 5 mile mark. I hit 2 miles in 23:11. Went 2.59 (I think) in 30 minutes and hit 5 miles in 58:00! Yay for me!!

I wanted to say a word about the no shampoo thing too. I am still not using any shampoo and I am still really enjoying it. I think that I was a perfect canidate to try the no shampoo because I never used any hair care products so I didn't have to worry about that. My hair has always just been wash and wear. Anyways, one thing that I have noticed is that my hair seems thicker. It used to be thicker before I had children but has continued to fall out more and more until it got quite thin. Maybe not thin by other peoples standards, but thin to me. Since I quit using shampoo it seems thicker to me. Also it is less frizzy. My hair is fine and bone straight but it would sort of spazz out at the ends which was really annoying. I also rarely would wear it down because it would be flat and limp near my face and then frizz out toward the bottom. Not a desirable effect. So I'd always end up pulling it back in a ponytail. Since going no shampoo I have been wearing my hair down a lot. It has more body and bounce and just looks so much better and healthier. I love it! It is really cool. Who knew that not using shampoo would be so beneficial?

Something else that has been on my mind is pretty heavy. I was reading a really good book about WWII and it got me thinking about the decisions that we make and how one decision can effect many people, or can effect us, good or bad for a long time to come. One decision can alter the entire course of our lives, be it for good or for bad. As a Christian I believe that our lives are in Gods hands and that He has a purpose and plan for us. But we also have freewill and the decisions that we make have such huge consequences. I am not sure if I am relating this very well. But one of the things that I was thinking about was what if I never went off raw food back in 2005? Where would I be now? What would my health look like? Every decision that we make has consequences that can last a long time. So with that in mind I want to try to make the best decisions possible for me and my family. I feel like, family wise, we have come so far. Hubby has really made huge improvements with his eating. He is limiting himself to just 2 meat meals a week for dinner which is really amazing. In the beginning he wouldn't even eat one vegetarian meal! Now he eats them 5 times a week. And that decision effects the children positively as well. It is really great.

Food for the day:

1 mango
1 pear
2 oranges
banana bread Lara Bar
large salad with broccoli/avocado/spinach/sunflower seeds/oil vinegrette dressing

Gee whiz! I didn't eat much today!! It is so strange how some days I am not that hungry and some days I am. I think that it is important to eat when you are hungry and not force yourself to eat if you are not. I just wasn't that hungry today and sort of nibbled all day. There have been other days when I have been ravenous and felt like a pig. It all evens out as long as I stay 100% raw. I am going to have a couple of oranges in a bit though because I do feel hungry now.

I guess that is all the blabbing I need to do for one night. If anyone knows what can be done about my toes please let me know. They are in so much pain and it makes working out really difficult. I will try to post my weight results first thing in the morning.

I love raw.
